Ministry of Communications and Microsoft Unite for Government Sector Digitalisation

Computer Security Incident Response Team Indonesia | 15 March 2024

Indonesia’s Ministry of Communications and Informatics (Kominfo) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Microsoft Indonesia as part of a joint effort to accelerate digitalisation in the government sector. This collaboration not only represents a synergy between the government and a global industry leader but is also a strategic step towards advancing the adoption of generative artificial intelligence (AI).

According to a report by Kearney and EBDI, AI has the potential to contribute up to USD 1 trillion to Southeast Asia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2030. This figure suggests that broad AI adoption could have a significant impact on a nation’s economic growth. In Indonesia alone, AI is projected to contribute USD 366 billion, equivalent to 12 percent of the country’s GDP, by the same year.
